Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman from America. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran soon exited the business. Corcoran is one of ABC’s initial Shark Tank investors. As of now she has appeared on each season of Shark Tank. She has participated in 53 deals as of February of 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 investment that will pay for 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of 10 children born to an Irish Catholic couple of working class in Edgewater, New Jersey.  Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was a bouncing from job to job during Corcoran's childhood. The family relied on free food deliveries from a local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father as an alcohol-dependent drunkard who often treated her mother with contempt and disrespect, particularly after he had been drinking. Corcoran struggled in school, and discovered later that she had dyslexia. Corcoran was educated in a Catholic elementary school and then enrolled in high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran was a failure in numerous classes in her first year of high school, was moved to Leonia High School. There she received a grade of D.
