Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris was born October 20, 1964. She is an American politician. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice-president and the highest ranking female politician in U.S history. A member of Democratic Party, she has been attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017, and as the state's attorney general from 2011 to 2017 and as a United States senator representing California until 2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, before being recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and then the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2003 she was elected San Francisco's district attorney. In 2010 Harris was appointed Attorney General for California. She was reelected in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the 2nd African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. In her time as a senator, she pushed for healthcare reform, federal descholaring of cannabis, a pathway for undocumented immigrants to become citizens, the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. Harris also backed progressive tax reform. She is most famous for her sharp questions to Trump administration officials in Senate hearings.
